In 1989 B.D.C.F. joined Drum Corps United Kingdom (D.C.U.K.) creating the country's leading American Style Drum Corps Organisation. The Corps reluctantly had to accept that, with the demands of the higher level of competition in D.C.U.K., entry into B.Y.B.A. competition was no longer feasable. In their first year in D.C.U.K. the commodores achieved a creditable tenth place at the British Drum Corps Championships with a show based on music from West Side Story.
