This year also saw the band achieve an overall third place at the B.D.C.F. Grand Finals as well as it's most significant achievement to date by winning the B.Y.B.A. Premier Class National Leagure Table. This achievement was more remarkable considering their competition came from literally hundreds of bands from all over the country, with many bands located in towns or cities with large catchment areas, facilities and support which were vastly superior to that of the Commodores.

Personal Message: After previously emigrating to New Zealand, I came back home to England, and, after 36 hours of long, weary and exhausting flights, was met by the 80 strong Commodores Drum Corps blasting out -It Don't mean a thing if it ain't got that Swing- in the baggage hall at Manchester Airport. They had even arranged for me to be told at Gatwick Airport that I had to travel up to Manchestrer on a later flight just to allow everyone time to get to the airport. Now, that's what I call a Homecoming..and suddenly the flights didn't seem half as long and not even the slightest bit weary.. Mike Williamson
