A competition was held to find a more streamlined image and Simon Bury's entry for the name of ' Commodores' was the winner and in 1980 they changed from 1st Poynton (St Georges) Scout and Guide Band to P.S.G. Commodores. Also in 1980, they toured Holland and paid tribute to the fallen at Arnheim. The climax of their tour was leading the celebrations for Queen Beatrix's birthday at Giethoorn and the playing of 'Solitaire' and 'Rule Brittania' on their new valve instruments in use only since the previous Winter.
