Hi folks,

Well, the time has finally come for me to take the step I never thought I would make. After a lot of deliberation, I have informed Karen, that I now intend to officially retire completely from the Commodores.
It has been a very difficult decision to make as well as being very emotional but this last season has made it a bit easier for me. I seem to be plagued with various illnesses and, coupled with my odd working hours, this has meant that this season I have had less involvement with the Corps than previously. I can't be a part time member as I love to be completely up to date with what is happening in the Corps and this year it has been impossible to be around often enough. I have always prided myself on being a good friend to our members and someone to talk to but this year that is obviously not the case. However, I could never leave the Corps completely out of my life and will drop in whenever I get the opportunity, maybe even a trip to DCE.!!!
It was early in 1976 that I first went along to a rehearsal and, in the time in between, I have had some exceptional memories and met some wonderful people whose friendship I will treasure for the rest of my life. I hope that I can still see enough of everyone to keep up to date on what is happening in your lives. For now, I will just try to fill the amazing void that will be in my life and thank you all for being such wonderful friends.
However, it is the memories of the wonderful young people I have met, had the pleasure of working with and watching grow up over the years that will always have a special place in my heart. Trophies and awards are a bonus but the people you meet are the real reward for all the years of involvement.

Best Regards to everyone.
Mike

Like the mssg from Chris Billington on our Saturday Night Result:
'DCUK 2012 6th seed PC take Nexus for 5th then 6th for 4th!'
Incredible headline, well done everyone. See you in Kerkrade. CB

GREAT STAT KIERAN AND MIKE! Am sooooo pleased that Commodores have now come full circle and back in the fight where they belong. One of the oldest corps in the country still battling it out on the field. (Just don't do a '92 next year) SKIES THE LIMIT!!!

Thank you to Kieran for reminding me that it was 21 years ago that we also achieved our best ever result of being in 4th place in a full DCUK Open Class Finals ( Ignoring all sub trophies such as Associate Class etc). The 1991 show (Lennon & Mc Cartney) is considered by most to be our best ever all-round result. So now we have done it again and it is only by making a comparison with a result from the past that we can understand the magnitude of what we achieved last night - Bearing in mind the Corps of 21 years ago was twice the size, we have to rate last night as the best-ever result in the 39 years of Commodores history. I was part of it all in 1991 but bearing mind all the hard work involved this year I am far more proud to be a part of it again 21 years later. Simply The Best. PTBAC 'f'
